I haven't seen this since Spike ran it (and that was when it was still called TNN!), so it had been a while! I watched it last night, and thought I'd share my opinion on it in the hope of generating some Wagon Train discussion. There follows spoilers for Wagon Train and a bit of spoilerishness regarding Obsession, Serpents and Love and Honour as well.

First of all - Buck and Ezra and the betting on who could bed the widow first just because, hey, they were on a wagon train and they were BORED - was too funny. I'd say that those two need a hobby, but that little subplot actually encompassed BOTH their hobbies in one go! :P And, as an aside - she really seriously WHIPPED that flask at Ezra, didn't she? Wow, she was peeved.

Vin and the married woman... I don't know. I buy Chris being obsessed with Ella enough in Obsession to leave the team, what with their history and all. Vin and Charlotte? If they wanted to be together, why run away to Brazil? Why couldn't she go back to town with him? Nobody knew her there apart from Mary.

Ezra Subplot #2 - I love how the friendship between Ezra and Nathan evolved through the first season and scenes with them in the second season are great. Nathan not knowing what to tell Ezra in Serpents when he was fishing for trust was a bit crushing and their swordfight in Love and Honour was, well, a bit shocking, but their interplay here was perfect. Ezra almost, ALMOST had him talked around... I think his mistake was telling Nathan to "think about it". It gave him time to consider the source ;)

Buck and JD and the love letter to Casey had me in STITCHES. I think she'd appreciate the fishing reference more than the ruby red lips rubbish. Like the frog gigger in Love and Honour. Buck reading his version on the ride back to town at the end was priceless.

Also, one last moment that may have made it for me: Chris, Buck, Ezra and Vin on the ridge to rescue Charlotte:

- 'Dear Mother, you'll never guess what these fools have me doing now! Babysitting a wagon train, of all things...'
- It goes on to say what a delightful time I'm having.
- Looks like a deed to me!
