Fan designations

I've been wanting to ask this question for a while, ever since a friend of mine (and a new Mag7 fan) heard me refer to myself as a BrigaDear.  I told her what it meant and then she asked what the fans of Vin Tanner called themselves (she's one of those).  I told her I believed the answer is Vixens, which she seemed to like. 

Now, I remember reading somewhere that Buck's fans were Bachelorettes, and Josiah's were called Jezebels; am I correct?  And what about the others?  I think I may have read that JD's fans referred to themselves as Darlin's, but I'm not sure. 

Does anyone else know?

Babe = M7 fan whose favorite character is Buck.
Brig (short for BrigaDear - emphasis mine) = M7 fan whose favorite character is Ezra.
Darlin' = M7 fan whose favorite character is JD.
Jezabelle = M7 fan whose favorite character is Josiah.
Lady = M7 fan whose favorite character is Chris.
Nightingale = M7 fan whose favorite character is Nathan.
Vixen = M7 fan whose favorite character is Vin.


I also found out that a spider = an inconsistency or canon discrepancy in the plot or dialog of a story (this term is unique to M7 fan fic). I'm sorry to say that I never checked out the terminology page before; there were simply to many great fics to be read!

This mailing list is to be a fun discussion regarding the character of Ezra Standish (or any character portrayed by Anthony Starke).

For those of you wondering about the derivation of the term "BrigaDears" I shall attempt to ellucidate.

BrigaDears are really members of Ezra's Briosa Brigade. This originated when someone wrote about riding a horse named Estralia Briosa (Bright Star) and another person read EZRA Briosa. Now, there were the Vixens and the Babes and the Darlins...but the fans of Ezra were going by EBBers (which I didn't like personally). Since a brigade has brigadiers, it only seemed logical that, as members of Ezra's Briosa Brigade, we were brigadiers. However, that seemed so...usual (I am
not one for usual, personally) and the unique spelling BrigaDear was created.

As you may have noticed, I called Ezra "The General" above. Actually, he is the BrigaDear General...because all brigades have generals, and this one is no exception.

No, I didn't make the badges, can't remember who did. I actually don't think I ever got a badge, not sure why since I was a BrigaDear for a pretty long time. I rejoined the list last year, but it's pretty inactive.

I remember not long after I joined that someone said they were making badges and if anyone wanted one, just to ask. I'm pretty sure it wasn't something you got when you joined.

You're welcome! There've been a lot of goofy things in Mag7 fandom, but we love it even more for it, right, pezgirl7? :)

So you're the one responsible for the General's dictionary entry, eh? Bearing in mind how long ago it was made, it stood the test of time! ;) All joking aside, your design skills are really good, and I've always thought you should never be ashamed of your beginnings. After all, neither Anthony Starke nor George Clooney have ever been ashamed of their humble beginnings in the "Return of the Killer Tomatoes" ( a true cult classic!).

Oh there certainly has been a lot of goofy things in the fandom, and I've certainly contributed my fair share! I remember I took a photo of the David statue, put Ezra's head on it, and then someone wrote all of Ezra's injuries on it, pointing to the appropriate places. LOL I wonder if that's still around?!

Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I shouldn't be ashamed of my beginnings. It did help me hone my skills, and find something that I like to do and could make a career of. That's a good comparison you made with Tomatoes. LOL

hee, wonderful icon! Yeah, it might be childish, but it's part of the history, and I've always been fond of being part of the Brigs. It's easier relating to a smaller group that the whole fandom. And though it may sound elitist to separate ourselves into sub-groups, I've never known someone who belonged to one of these subgroups disparage somebody who declared themselves a member of another subgroup.

Mag7 fandom is strange that way. I've had some nasty experiences in other fandoms; that's why I'm only active here.
